After so many mishaps Christine Lange has given up on finding her knight in shinning armor. Yet when Antonio Rodriguez comes along she begins to think that he could be a knight, but just not for her. He needs a wife for two years and Christine finds herself in a jam. Agreeing to his proposal will help her out immensely, but after what happened with her last marriage can she risk her heart again?

Right from the start I was pulled into Christine’s world. She is a strong and smart woman who just happens to run into bad luck. Christine loves to a fault and gives her whole heart when she does. Which seems to be her downfall every time, but this time with Antonio may be different. The attraction is there from the start between the two and no matter how hard they fight it, the attraction always wins. Antonio is more than meets the eye. He lets many people make assumptions about him and likes it that way. Nobody knows the true man. That is until Christine comes along. The two make a great couple and watching them develop their relationship was a great read. Both Christine and Antonio come to the wrong conclusion about each other in this relationship and continue to fight it and each other. When they do get together the sparks fly and turn into fireworks as the story goes on. I loved the way Antonio tries to seduce Christine and her attempts to seduce him are just as good. I really enjoyed seeing Christine show her vixen side, especially when she attempts her first try at satisfying Antonio, and the time that they spent at the pool was a hot read. When the two let go and enjoy themselves they do not hold back! There are so many times that the two find themselves giving in to temptation and letting go, but always pulling back until they find out the truth and then all bets are off. Once again Fran Lee does a wonderful job of giving us not only a hot read but also a beautiful romance as well.

What a fun, fresh plot. Christine has married once before to act as a cover for a gay man… Now she has received her second marriage proposal to a wickedly sexy man who needs a wife quick. He is certainly handsome and rich enough to find a wife without his crazy bargain, so he has to be gay, right? After all, Christine is not lucky in love, and once bit, twice shy.

Tonio is not interested in marrying. It pisses him off that his father has finally manipulated him into doing so, even from the grave. So, he refuses to marry the clingy witch his sister is trying to foist on him and instead seeks out an acceptable alternative. What he finds is a love that only fate could have arranged.

Never Tempt Fate features a cast of characters that are diverse and wonderful. The theme may be familiar, but the twists that Ms. Lee throws in makes this erotic story a hilarious, suspenseful read. I would love to read Adriana’s story!

Review:

This is the second novel I have read by Lee, and I liked this one, too. The first was My Sexy Sensei, and Lee has no trouble setting up interesting scenarios and very sensual sexy characters. I have to say I enjoyed Sexy Sensei better than this one, mostly because of one thing.

The scenario is that Tonio needs a wife in order to claim his inheritance. Chris is unemployed, facing eviction, and in dire need of money. Tonio offers her a sexless marriage for two years, at which time he will let her go with a large divorce settlement. There are sinister forces at work, both to separate these two, and to siphon off great sums of money from Tonio’s properties which are being grossly mismanaged.

Chris and Tonio have feelings for each other, but each thinks the other is gay. The part I didn’t like was that as long as they each think the other prefers their own sex, they both insist on trying to ‘convert’ the other to heterosexuality. They spend a lot of time plotting how to get the other into bed, convinced that if they can only sample the opposite sex, they’ll convert from homosexuality/lesbianism to heterosexuality. Now, despite some people being bisexual, it’s very unlikely that anyone who likes his/her own sex will ‘convert’. As it turns out, neither is gay, but they each spend a lot of time worrying about it.

Other than that, Never Tempt Fate is a good story, with a bit of mystery thrown in, and of course the sex is off the charts.

Tonio’s father has died, leaving him the family fortune...with one condition; marry someone by the year's end or the fortune will be handed over to Luis, his self-righteous cousin. With time running out, he needs to find someone to marry him, no stings attached, pre-nuptial agreement in hand, with a quick wedding. Piece of cake right? Oh, if only life were that simple! Antonio and Chris seem to have completely different lifestyle choices that neither is sure they can live with. Oh, and did I mention Tonio’s been framed from murder?

Christine has found herself in a serious financial predicament. She has been laid off from her job, spent her life savings and is two months behind on rent. She’s about to be homeless. When she is presented with a business proposition she can’t refuse (or at least shouldn’t refuse in her current situation).

Tonio meets a woman that is about to be evicted from her apartment. He thinks he has the answer to her money woes, and in turn can solve his own inheritance quandary. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. All the pieces of the puzzle seem to be falling into place as if fate had a hand in all of it. Too easy...right?

Fran Lee's book, Never Tempt Fate had me a stressed out wreck! I was turning each page waiting for Tonio and Chris to realize what was right under OUR noses. To say love is blind here is an understatement. As if the hawt sexual tension between these two wasn’t enough to make this book a page-turner, trying to find out who framed Tonio for murder had me on the edge of my seat.

This hawt, steamy, laugh out loud love story had me wanton of such a dilemma for myself.

Chris is in deep money trouble. For the past couple of months she has been living each day as if it were the last. She loves her apartment and has restored it with her own money. And now, because of bad luck, she might just lose it forever.

Chris knows that she can’t pay the high rent anymore, but wishes for some good luck to come. She never expected though for the good luck to come in the form of a fine, handsome man like Antonio Rodriguez.

Tonio is everything she has been dreaming of, with hands that she wants on her forever, and kisses that make her tremble with need.(In her dreams, that is.)

The problem is she is a virgin and thinks that if Tonio knew he wouldn’t want her. Then again, he seems to prefer the opposite sex-- which makes her wonder why she is attracted to him.

Chris has been burned before by love and marriage. She is determined to not make the same mistakes again. Can she find out why a gorgeous man like Tonio needs her in marriage but not in his bed?

Tonio has been burned by love before. It was by a vindictive woman who only wanted him for his money. He knows he’s wealthy, but wants someone who will marry him without love. Meeting Chris, he is enchanted, not only with lust but something else in his heart. Chris is like a breath of fresh air and surprisingly, her not caring about money bewilders him. All his life he has never known a woman like her and for the first time wants more than just a marriage of convenience.

Tonio knows that he cannot stay married for two years to a beautiful woman like Chris without showing her real passion and love. The thing is-- she is a lesbian. Or is she? Can Tonio change her ways or will he get the biggest surprise of his life?

Ah! Fran Lee sure created a most amusing and romantic story all in one book. I loved the scenario in this story between Tonio and Chris. This is definitely a twist to the newfound love stories. These two were great, and I enjoyed seeing Tonio get surprised at each turn by Chris’s outlook on money and luxury.

The scenes between them were hysterical when they discussed their sexual orientation with one another.

This was a great book by Fran and I look forward for more by this talented author.

A Fan's special Review...

Dear Fran:

I just finished reading "Never Tempt Fate". Wow! I loved it! Great characters who were deeply attracted to each other despite their initial misunderstanding of each other's sexuality.

Very enjoyable banter and smokin' sexual heat between Antonio and Christine! You added a mystery to solve and dangerous elements to overcome before these two red-hot lovers finally knew theirs was a love to last a lifetime. It was "dictated by fate".

Thanks again,

Virginia

Jen’s Review: Never Tempt Fate is an excellent book! There was a little bit of everything in there; monumental misunderstandings by the hero and heroine, mystery, murder plots, and international hi-jinks. I could go on and on, but one thing is clear, Fran Lee knows how to pen an engaging tale.

It was laugh-out-loud funny to watch Tonio’s and Chris’ interactions toward the beginning of the book. The sexual chemistry between these characters was smoking hot from the very first interaction all the way to the conclusion. Ms. Lee kept the sexual and sensual scenes, of which there were plenty, fresh and new throughout. This is something that a reader of any type of erotic romance truly appreciates.

The plot flowed smoothly and kept you guessing as to the outcome all the way to that light bulb moment. I love that moment that you get when you read a good book and the plot is revealed – that ‘no way!’ or ‘oh, no!’ towards the end when you figure it all out.

The resolution of Ne er Tempt Fate was satisfying and believable, and I felt complete when the story was over. I truly enjoyed reading it from beginning to end.

Thank you, Ms. Lee, for writing a wonderful story. I hope that we might get to read Adriana’s (she’s the sister, for those of you that won’t know that until you read the book) story in the future. That character promises to be a wild ride as well.
